FAQ

Common questions

What are iRacing Special Events?

Special events are one-off big events outside the regular weekly series, mostly modelled on real races like the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring or the Nürburgring 24h. iRacing keeps the official list at iracing.com/special-events. On top of that there are endurance series like the Global Endurance Tour with 6-hour races and the Nürburgring Endurance Championship (NEC).

Do I need a team for endurance events?

Almost all long events are team events: you share a car with several drivers and take turns. You can only race solo in events that explicitly allow it, for example the Production Car Challenge @ ViR (solo or in a team). To find a team, try the iRacing forums or Discord servers.

Which license do I need?

It depends on the event and the class. According to the season plan, the Global Endurance Tour requires a Class C license with at least 4.0, and the NEC starts at Rookie with a 4.0 Safety Rating. For special events, the requirements are in the event entry and in the official forum. You'll find more on series and licenses in the iRacing calendar.

How much does it cost to take part?

You usually don't pay extra for the events themselves, but you need an active iRacing membership plus the event's car and track. Check which content you're missing before the event starts.
